Values and Beliefs

Imagine very bluntly just asking someone what their values and beliefs are.  It seems like such a simple question and yet it really is incredibly loaded at the same time. Someone reading or hearing about what you value and believe in can go one of two ways, it can make someone completely turned off by you, or it can make someone more intrigued and keener to build or keep a relationship with you. With that in mind one of the bigger things that I believe and hold value to is creating understanding and empathy. Some of the people I love most do not align with what I like to believe in and value, and while life would be a lot easier if they did. I have learned to hold high value in hearing out others’ opinions and points-of-view. When you read through this, I hope that you can access that same value of building understanding and empathy in what I hold close, what I value, and what I believe in. There are billions of people in this world that find importance and value in different things and if we learned to build understand around this maybe we would have less conflict in this life.

What do I value and believe?

  • First and foremost, I value and believe in freedom… women should be free to have say entirely in their life and how they live it, every human on this planet within reasonable bounds should have that right.
  • I value and believe in other cultures… I welcome and hope that anyone in my presence feels free to speak their own language, perform cultural beliefs, and feel accepted and free to do this always.
  • I value and believe in living in the moment… in the world we live in today nothing can be predicted, and nothing can be guaranteed. You never can know what the next day will bring, COVID has sure taught me that and with it I have changed my mentality in life. I have learned to just live and take action to do the things I desire to in this life right now. Of course everything takes time, but nothing ever changes without actions and steps. I hope and I live everyday valuing this idea.
  • I value and believe in opportunity for all… No one should be held back from pursuing dreams and desires, no one should ever be told the cant do something, or they won’t succeed so don’t even try. People have no idea what they can do in this life, and I think a lot of people hold themselves back due to fear or embarrassment of failure, and I hate that idea. We only have one life, and everyone should do what they desire to do with it without a society telling them they can’t.
  • I value and believe in inclusion and acceptance… We have no idea the capabilities of people that might be different. The reality is that we are all different, some people’s differences just might shine brighter then others and that is something that needs to be celebrated, encouraged, and worked with. Every person in this life has something to offer the world if they have the right care and support around them.

Overall, I believe, and I value an inclusive and free world. I want everyone to be who they are and feel comfortable sharing that. I want everyone to be more understanding of who people are and more accepting of it. I guess you could say I am an optimistic person, I am aware there is a lot of bad in this world. I also know that all I can do about that is to act in ways that I can and spread positivity and acceptance. I hope to be a classroom teacher one day and this is a small way I can share my beliefs and values to help future generations grow up to be more accepting, understanding, and optimistic.

A day I got to appreciate the Beautiful life I have been very lucky to live thus far.
