Educators contribute to the profession.
This professional standard is an enjoyable one actually. This standard for me is a lot about giving, yourself giving, and others in the profession giving. As much as teaching seems like an autonomous thing that is done individually, it is just teacher and student. This could not be further from the reality of teacher. I actually feel really luck to have been in schools where other more veteran teachers have been beyond willing to teach me what they have learned in their careers. Throughout my whole schooling journey to becoming a teacher I have been having other teachers giving back to this profession by helping me reach my goal of becoming a teacher. In my eyes teaching future teachers might be the ultimate way to give back or contribute to the profession. I hope that I after gaining more experiences as a teacher can one day do the same thing because I just feel so lucky for the experiences I have been given and I would love to somehow repay these in the future.
Ways that I can give back to the profession right now in my current position I believe is to always make myself available for any of the extra things that go on outside the classroom. What I mean when I say this is that I want to make myself available to volunteer for any of the extracurricular things the school I am in is doing. I would like to within the next two years begin my masters. I hope to do a masters in counseling, and as I work towards this goal of mine I would like to put myself in a position to put on a professional development day seminar for other teachers to share what I have learned to help out our students. I think just constantly educating myself is a wonderful way to contribute to the profession, the learning never ends, and that really is the beauty of being a teacher. It is actually the luxury of being a teacher, I will always get to learn and grow myself as an individual within this field of work and I absolutely love that about teaching.
